About Me

I’m an electronics engineer and software programmer, currently living in Japan.  This gives me access to the Gakken kits as soon as they hit the shelves.  I’m not related to Gakken in any way (but if they gave me an offer, I’d be interested).  I just like building things and then writing about what I’ve found.

Right now, I am focusing on cryptograms, and have been a member of the American Cryptogram Association (ACA) since July, 2018. The story Wiggles has been encrypted using a simple Crypto Quip-type cipher, with different keys every paragraph. My Cipher articles generally run on Mondays, and Wiggles on Fridays, my time. I’m including Wiggles here (copyright Curtis H. Hoffmann, 2018-2019) for the reader to have something to solve between weekly cipher posts. Permission is not granted to repost any of these articles in any form or format without my express written agreement. Contact me in email for further information and/or discussion.

Hi, just want to express my appreciation for your work on the NSX-39! I’ve been exploring MIDI programming for the device, and your guide has been a great resource. Thanks a lot for sharing! 🙂
